"The Family"

11"x14" acrylic on hardboard A relative asked me to paint a portrait as a gift to a friend. This painting is the portrait. It took me three times longer to paint than I had projected, but there are really three portraits that I had to paint. This was my first 11x14 painting. I really didn't think the size difference would be challenging at all but it was, what a difference a few inches can make. Not for sale.

"Pretty in Pink"

8”x10” acrylic on hardboard I had already drawn a picture and was actually looking forward to painting today but everything went down hill. I just couldn’t get excited about putting the paint on the surface. I gave myself a fresh start with this little gem, Zora, the quintessential little girl. I guess you can say Zora is my muse. Who could be bummed out after painting a smile like this one? Needless to say, I had a lot of fun when I started over. Dutch Art Gallery

"Portrait of Darlene"

6"x6" I was at a loss for an image to paint today so I stopped on this lovely lady after thumbing through my box of reference material for sometime. The model looks like my mother when she was in her high school class picture. I guess that was what caught my attention.

"Rebecca"

Rebecca 6”x 6” Acrylic on Masonite I didn’t have any specific image in mind to paint. I usually have several images set aside that I want to work with and it usually takes weeks before I actually get around to painting them. Today I pulled from a box of interesting images and I have to laugh when I write this, but I was attracted to the model’s bags under her eyes and her distinguished nose. I actually enjoyed working on this one. Tell me what you think.

Aunt Marggie's Hats

6x6 Acrylic on Canvas My grandmother was a lover of hates of all shapes, colors, and sizes. Some of them were quite eccentric, this happened to be one of the more conservative ones. After her passing many of her hats were passed down to her sister whom I have painted.
